Calligraphy and its brief hitory

Hello and welcome to my art blog.Today i will write about calligraphy,its history and different methods used in creating an interesting peice of calligraphy Art.

1. What is calligraphy

Calligraphy is an art of writing words perfect in terms of measurement,make words look visually attractive in well composed manner.A significant feature of calligraphyis that a good pen like a good voice makes truth palpable.A calligrapher s Art is considered to be a manifestation of his or her spirituality and inward perfection.The sacred Islamic art and calligraphy ,by its own nature is dependant upon mysticism.

Al qalqashandi a famous scholar and clerk of Mamluk court said:

Mysticim and sacred Art both share in the power of expressions.The script denotes the words,and the words denote the thoughts.Since they share this power they correspond to each otherin many of their traits for they both express meaning.

      2.Brief history of calligraphy 

The foundation of Islamic calligraphy was laid down by the creative genius of three great calligraphers from Baghdad.

1. Ibn Muqla (886-940) of the Abbassid court

3. Ibn al Bawwab
4. 
   
5. Yakut al Mustasimi (1298)

 These calligraphers modified the 7th century kufic script of Quran to more rounded and flowing scripts like Thuluth,Naskh,Rika,Nastaliq in 9 th century.
