Step 1

Tools and Materials to write calligraphy:

Old way of calligraphy

You ll need

• Qalam/Reed pen
• Calligraphy inks in any color
• smooth calligraphy paper

Step 2

Dip pen in ink and begin writing with slightly tilted qalam.While making stroke with qalam,move it in a way that when you end the letter the qalam ends on a point on paper. Daal is a curved letter, written in a circular form. Qalam's qat should be diminishing from being flat in the beginning to gradually coming to a fine point in the end .Watch this youtube video for perfect Divani script.

Step 3

How well you write will depend upon practicing these letters.Its fun to learn the art of lettering ,and you ll be able to apply this art in various fields like designing wedding/birthday cards/personalized lettering on gift boxes/making journals/bookmarks/t shirt design/jewellery design.
